To start with, we must also amend the constitution where it says Africa shall be the center piece of our foreign policy which simply means that the whole of Africa including marauding Fulani or other herdsmen shall take precedence over the interest of Nigerian citizens. We must redefine our National interest. We must also defend the sovereignty of the people. Section 14(2)(a) of the 1999 Nigeria Constitution states, ‘ Sovereignty belongs to the people of Nigeria from whom government through this constitution derives all its powers and authority.’
It follows that the ethnic nationalities as the people of Nigeria have the sovereignty to make Nigeria Constitution. The National Assembly/State Assemblies/Legislators as Government, do not have the sovereignty to make Nigeria Constitution; but only have the powers and authority given to them by the Constitution made by the people of Nigeria. We cannot revive Nigeria without uniting Nigeria and we cannot unite Nigeria without uniting it’s components. Who or what are its components if not the ethnic nationalities and indigenous peoples of the land. A leader who truly believes in Nigeria cannot be in denial of this.
