I Didn’t Authorise Insults On Buhari, Others – Oba Of Benin

Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II has dismissed claims by one Eranomigho Edegbe that he has the authority of the king to hurl insults at the President, Muhammadu Buhari and other eminent Nigerians.

Edegbe, in a video hurled invectives at the President, Adams Oshiomhole and Captain Hosa Okunbor and said he is backed by the Oba of Benin, a claim the Palace has rejected as totally false.

The Palace in a statement by the Secretary of the Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor said “the said video and the contents therein was not commissioned nor was it encouraged by His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, Oba of Benin. We condemn in strongest terms the malicious attacks on the Integrity of his excellency, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, and other persons whom the video seek to malign.”

“We wish to state equivocally that our love for Mr. President is unparalleled as the relationship shared date back to the days of of His Royal Majesty, Oba Erediauwa (of blessed memory), the immediate past of Oba of Benin. This relationship was further strengthened when the President headed the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF).”

The statement further spoke about the relationship of Adams Oshiomhole with the Palace as it said it’s cordial and respectful. Revealing that the Palace was happy to give Oshiomhole a send-forth after the expiration of his term as governor, underlining how highly the Oba of Benin regards him.

In its other clarification, the palace maintained that Capt. Hosa Okunbor who was also insulted in the video is a good son of the Oba Ewuare II as it said there can be nothing but goodwill and prayers for him.
