Outgoing Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has officially handed over to the new acting IGP, Usman Alkali Baba.
The handing over which took place on Wednesday at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, followed the decoration of the new acting IGP by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, earlier today.
On Tuesday, President Muhammadu Buhari terminated the three months extension he had earlier granted Adamu to remain in office, by announcing Baba as acting IGP.
Adamu learnt of his removal while on official assignment to Imo State.
Baba, who was born on 1 March 1963, is from Geidam, Yobe State, Nigeria. He received a Teacher’s Grade II Certificate from Teachers College, Potiskum, Yobe State, in 1980.
He proceeded to study political science at Bayero University Kano, graduating in 1985. He earned a Masters degree in public administration at the University of Maiduguri in 1997. Baba was a member of course 22/2014 at National Defence College.
