Imo: Secondus, Peter Obi, Lead Protest Against Supreme Court Verdict In Abuja

Leaders and members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Monday led a protest against the Supreme Court that sacked its governorship candidate in the March 9, 2019, governorship election in Imo state.

The protest was led by National chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, the party’s vice presidential candidate in the 2019 election, Peter Obi, Senate Minority Leader, Encinitas Abaribe and other members of the national working committee.

The PDP protesters, all in black attires, began the procession from the party’s campaign headquarters, Legacy House, in Maitama district of Abuja.

They held placards which read: “Save Judiciary”, “Presidency and Judiciary Murder Democracy” and “We say no to Supreme Court judgement in Imo” among others.

The PDP chairman had announced on Friday during the party’s emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting that the party would embark on a protest.

According to Secondus, the aim of the protest would be to impress on Nigerians that injustice had been done to the party.

The apex court had last Tuesday nullified Ihedioha’s election and declared Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the duly elected governor of the state.
