INEC Committee Concludes Report On Rivers Elections

The Committee constituted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to look into the conduct of the last Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in Rivers State has concluded its report, Professor Anthonia Simbine was the head of the Committee.

INEC constituted the Committee after it suspended the elections in Rivers State, the Committee was given 48 hours to conclude its assignment.

The Commission stated that: “Based on reports from our officials in the field the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has determined that there has been widespread disruption of elections conducted on the 9th day of March 2019 in Rivers State.

The Chief Press Secretary of INEC, Rotimi Oyekanmi on Friday said ” The Rivers Fact Finding Committee is back and will submit its report to the Commission,which will study it and decide on the next line of action. ”

The Committee whose deadline expired on Wednesday was unable to submit its report on Thursday as INEC was presenting certificates of return to Federal lawmakers.
