The attention of ALEDEH has been drawn to a robbery scene which occurred at the Ladipo area of Oshodi in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city on Sunday, July 16.
An eyewitness report experienced by an unnamed ‘IT student’ but narrated to ALEDEH by Zaid Ibn Ibrahim, reveals that the armed robbers operated in a white ‘BRT-like bus the ‘IT student’ boarded from tollgate to Oshodi.
Narrating the situation in a chat with ALEDEH, Ibrahim said his ‘IT student’ revealed that one of the “robbers pointed a gun to the driver while the rest of them with guns ordered the passengers to lie down on their faces, collected their cash, phones, ATM cards and used POS to empty their accounts.
“They ordered the driver to park in a dark spot around Ladipo area when he couldn’t concentrate.
“The operation lasted about three hours. They gave her back one of her SIM cards out of kind gesture that she is a student as her ID card in her bag indicated. But they went away with her 5,000 naira cash and 42,000 naira in her bank account.
“They later pushed five of them down out of the bus at Ladipo Bus Stop” Ibrahim told ALEDEH.
He wondered why such would happen in Nigeria, noting that he had “helped his ‘IT student’ send a mail to her bank and also told her to report to her bank physically to either block her ATM or change her password since they (armed robbers) handed it back to her and also told her to report to the police” he added.
The curious Ibrahim asked ALEDEH if ” POS transactions” cannot be used to trace the robbers and also “help to retrieve back her money”?
” I need suggestions on what else can be done in this case…. Any banker in the house, your advice is highly needed”, Ibrahim added.
