Confederation of African Football (CAF) has postponed the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) to 2022.
CAF’s decision is said to be as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic that has rocked the world.
Cameroon is the host nation of the biennial football competition having missed out on the 2019 edition due to inadequate preparations.
The decision by the umbrella body for football in Africa came during its Executive Committee meeting held on the June 30th in Cairo.
CAF also revealed that the 2019/20 CAF continental competitions will resume in September while it has cancelled the CAF Women Champions league.
The next FIFA World Cup has also been slated for 2022 in Qatar.
