Just In: Confusion As Appeal Court Nullifies Makinde’s Election

The Appeal Court in sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital has nullified the election that brought in PDP’s Seyi Makinde as governor.

The judgement which saw four of the five judges rule that the election was not cleanly and duly won by Makinde also stated that candidate of the APC, Adebayo Adelabu was not given a right to fair hearing at the tribunal.

Recall that Adelabu had gone to the Oyo State Governorship election tribunal in September but lost there as his case was dismissed for failure to prove his claims.

The Appeal Court in a fresh judgement has faulted the election that brought Makinde in but was quiet in its declaration. The judgement failed to declare Adelabu as the rightful winner of the election, and also didn’t order a re-run of the election.

The new judgement has left supporters of both parties in the dark, as comments coming from Ibadan, the state capital are indicative of confusion than a conviction in the judgement.

Both candidates are however expected to approach the Supreme Court for a final, and more definitive ruling.
