The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday arraigned Abdullahi Babalele, a son-in-law to the Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in the 2019 general elections, Atiku Abubakar.
Babalele was arraigned for allegedly laundering $140,000 in the build-up to the 2019 general elections.
Also, Uyiekpen Osagie-Giwa, Atiku’s lawyer, was separately arraigned for allegedly laundering $2 million, in connection with the polls.
The duo were arraigned before Justice Nicholas Oweibo at a Federal High Court in Lagos. They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Judge adjourned the matter till tomorrow (Thursday) to take their bail applications and ordered that they are returned to the EFCC custody.
