The Chief Medical Director of Irrua Teaching Hospital, Irrua, Edo state, Prof. Sylvanus Okogbenin who was kidnapped has been set free.
ALEDEH had on Monday 26th August reported that he was kidnapped by gunmen while on his way to Irrua.
Two policemen who accompanied the doctor were shot in the process.
He has since rejoined his family. He is expected to undergo medical checks soon. It would be recalled that Prof. Okogbenin was kidnapped by heavily armed men led by a woman at Ramat Park in Benin city, Edo state capital.
The gun men killed two policemen attached to him and injured others before abducting the CMD to unknown destination.
The vicious kidnappers who came in two cars trailed their victim and overtook his car and then suddenly opened fire.
The situation led to serious pandemonium in Ikpoba Hill area of Benin city as the gun men shot sporadically into the air during the abduction. People were said to have ran for their lives to avoid stray bullet.
Edo state commissioner of Police Cp Danmallam in a recent interview vowed to bring the kidnappers to their knees.
