JUST IN: Nigeria Records 14 New COVID-19 Cases As Pandemic Tolls 288

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 14 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19, in Nigeria.

According to a tweet via its verified Twitter handle late Thursday night, 13 cases were reported in Lagos while 1 was reported in Delta State.

“Fourteen new cases of COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 13 in Lagos and 1 in Delta State,” the centre tweeted.

“As at 09:30 pm 9th April there are 288 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Fifty-one have been discharged with seven deaths.”

The NCDC also apologised for an error in its reported results on Wednesday. It said two new cases were wrongly reported but further review showed they were repeat tests for previously confirmed cases.

“Yesterday, we erroneously reported 2 new cases in Bauchi. Following further review, we can confirm that these were repeat tests for previously confirmed cases.

“We apologise for this error and remain committed to ensuring transparent and accurate reporting of test results,” it said.
