Ondo State House of Assembly has started impeachment proceedings against the Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi.
Ajayi has been accused of gross misconduct, financial recklessness, attempt to bring down the Ondo State government and other allegations.
The state assembly is very heavy with the presence of security men at the moment.
More than 10 Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) patrol vehicles are stationed at the gate of the assembly.
Journalists were being directed to call Gbenga Omole, the chairman of the house, committee on information, for permission to gain access to the complex, according to TheCable.
Only legislators and staff of the assembly were allowed into the premises.
Ajayi left the APC for the PDP, and is set to vie for the governorship seat, but must first earn the ticket of the PDP in the primary elections.
According to information coming out of Ondo, 14 members of the House of Assembly have signed the notice of impeachment against Ajayi while nine members of the assembly have signed their disapproval of the impeachment of the deputy governor.
Speaker of the House already asked that the notice of impeachment be served to Ajayi, as proceedings continue.
The Ondo State House of Assembly has 26 members.
