Just In: Police Impose 3-day Dusk To Dawn Curfew After Bayelsa Violence

The Bayelsa State Police Division has imposed a three-day Dusk to Dawn curfew after the violence that greeted the announcement of the candidate of the PDP as the rightful winner of the Governorship election.

Uche Anozia, the Bayelsa Commissioner of Police announced the decision on Friday, after Police worked to contain the clashes that have ensued from the Supreme Court ruling.

The curfew is going to last between 8p.m – 6a.m for three days.

Recall that the apex court sacked the candidate of the APC, David Lyon and his deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremieoyo in a ruling on Thursday and ordered INEC to announce Senator Douye Diri of the PDP as the winner of the election.

Diri and his deputy have been presented with his certificates by INEC on Friday.

Youths in the state, believed to be supporters of the APC as they bore flags of the party went on a free for all, destroying properties in the government house, the PDP secretariat and the house of outgoing governor, Seriake Dickson.

Meanwhile, the APC has rejected the ruling of the Supreme Court.
