JUST IN: Tribunal Dismisses Jegede’s Petition Against Akeredolu

Ondo State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Akure has declared Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu the winner of the state’s October 2020 gubernatorial election.

The chairman of the three-member panel Justice Umar Abubakar while delivering judgement in Akure struck out the petition of Eyitayo Jegede of the PDP for want of Jurisdiction.

“Issue raised therein in this petition are settled issue of internal affairs and Management of a political party which this Tribunal has no jurisdiction,” Abubakar stated

The petition was filed after the October 2020 gubernatorial election in the state in which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), returned Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the APC for a second term as governor of the state.

Eyitayo Jegede of the PDP and his party had approached the tribunal, asking that he should be declared winner of the October 10, 2020 governorship election in the state.
