Kenyan Athletes Win 2020 Lagos Marathon

A 31-year old Kenyan Athlete, David Barmasai Tumo has emerged winner of the 2020 Lagos City Marathon.

Tumo was the winner of the 2011 Dubai Marathon and came fifth at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics.

Also, Sharon Jemutai Cherop, a Kenyan, was the first woman to cross the finish line.

The 35-year old athlete was the bronze medal winner in the marathon at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics and won the Boston Marathon in 2012.

The duo (Tumo and Cherop) will be rewarded with the race’s grand prize of $50,000, while the second and third place winners $40,000 and $30,000 respectively.

Saturday’s race started 6:30 am at Western Avenue, in front of the National Stadium Surulere and finished at the Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island, a 42-kilometre stretch.
