Lagos Fashion Week Organises Competition For Start-up Fashion Designers

Lagos Fashion Week in collaboration with Canon,  Fayrouz,  Style House Files and others is organising it’s first ever styling and design competition for aspiring designers, fashion photographers and fashion enthusiasts.
The competition, labeled Green Access focuses on discovering raw talents in the Nigerian Fashion industry,  grooming these raw talents and influencing their decisions towards taking appropriate steps that would guarantee them standard opportunities in the fashion world.
It is also aimed at promoting traditional history and boosting the country’s economy while encouraging young fashion designers to incorporate the usage of  traditional materials such as ankara, adire, akwete and aso-oke in their designs.
Also, it is expected that 15 chosen talented finalists who have been able to distinguish themselves  would be required to design an outfit each to be displayed during the fashion week and they would be given the opportunity to promote their brand by featuring in a fashion photo and film shoot.

This year’s  Lagos Fashion Week tagged Heineken Lagos Fashion Week is in it’s 8th season and is scheduled to hold on the 24th through 27th August, 2018

On the other hand, The event intends to provide support for start up raw talented fashion designers and renew its dedication towards providing an enabling environment for them to fine tune their abilities and in turn promote their careers.

This has led to the launch of Fashion Focus Africa, an initiative formerly referred to as Young Designer of The Year which focuses on raw fashion talents and trains them effectively on the intricacies of Fashion designing for a period of twelve months by engaging them in mentoring programmes and awarding special grant through its Fashion fund.

Though this programme was for Nigerian based start up fashion designers, it has now been expanded to accommodate  designers from different parts of the African continent.
