In preparation for school resumption, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, LASUBEB, has concluded the Phase III of the EKOEXCEL training programme for teachers.
This was to bridge the gap in delivering quality education, through the use of technology devices in Public Primary School pedagogy.
The Executive Chairman, LASUBEB, Wahab Alawiye-King, at the graduation ceremony at Vetland Primary School Agege and CMS Primary School Bariga, said the integration and infusion of technology into the basic education system will improve learning outcomes.
Alawiye-King said over 14,000 teachers had been empowered with the EKOEXCEL initiative of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
According to him, the use of tablets in classrooms will improve teachers professionally and also make them globally competitive.
He said, “It is a logical approach and total departure from the traditional way of teaching.
“It is about inculcating the right values in our Schools as well as making our classroom more engaging and interactive.”
Alawiye-King maintained that the initiative is structured to instill discipline and actively engage pupils in classroom activities.
He added that it will also explore the affective domain of teaching and learning.
The SUBEB Chairman, therefore, charged the teachers to go back to the classroom with a renewed energy and explore other boundless possibilities in teaching and learning.
The Commissioner for Education, Folashade Adefisayo, stated that EKOEXCEL has changed the culture of cram and pour in teaching and learning.
