After quitting his coaching career at Real Madrid last summer, sources have confirmed that Zinedine Zidane will be reappointed as the club’s manager.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Madrid’s board of directors will meet with the incumbent coach for his dismissal and rehire Zidane.
The Frenchman, who resigned from his job at Madrid after leading the team to three successive Champions League titles, will replace Santiago Solari.
Recall that Zidane stepped down following the Champions League final victory over Liverpool, and Julen Lopetegui was hired as his successor just before the World Cup where he had been due to lead Spain, who promptly sacked him.
Solari came in as caretaker before being given a contract to 2021 on November 13, 2018.
However, Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez has promised Zidane a £300m transfer overhaul to return to Bernabeu.
According to reports, there are plans to spend over £300 million this summer, while bringing in money from significant sales, with Gareth Bale and Luka Modric among those expected to leave.
