In a rare humane act, a man has rejected a house as a gift as he opted for the construction of a borehole in his community in Jigawa State, according to a report by Daily Trust.
Musa Usman, a security man hails from Giljimmi, a Fulani settlement in Birniwa Local Government Area of the State and lives with his family in a thatched house.
One would have expected him to revel in joy after his Indian boss offered him a parting gift, a house for his meritorious efforts in his 25 years of working with him.
Usman’s boss, Mr. V. Verghese, is the Managing Director of Jawa International Limited, a pharmaceutical company based in Lagos.
Aware of his community’s current predicament, where they are facing a lack of potable water, Usman rejected the offer and opted for a borehole, which will serve the community, ensure they have clean and regular water supply and banish their long treks.
He expressed his gratitude to Mr. Verghese for his benevolence and said he doesn’t regret rejecting the house offer for the borehole.
