Michy Batshuayi Scores As Chelsea Defeats Westbrom 0-1 To Win 2016/2017 EPL Title


West London football club, Chelsea on Friday night, May 12, emerged the 2016/2017 champions of the English Premier league.

The Blues achieved this feat after striker Michy Batshuayi scored on the 82nd minute to secure the vital win, sliding in to turn home Cesar Azpilicueta’s cut-back from close range to make it 0-1 for the Blues against Westbrom.

After North London rival, Tottenham Hotspur were defeated by Westham United on Sunday, May 5,  Chelsea needed only two wins from their final four matches to take the trophy to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues convincingly defeat Middlesbrough 3-0 on Monday, May 8 and wrapped things up with victory at The Hawthorns after substitute, Michy Batshuayi scored on the 82nd minute to secure the vital win, sliding in to turn home Cesar Azpilicueta’s cut-back from close range to end the game 0- 1 for Chelsea, thereby making them the champions elect of England.

This is the fifth time Chelsea will be winning the English Premier league title in their one hundred and twelve (122) years history.

The Blues won the English Premier league in 2004/2005, 2005/2006, 2009/2010, 2014/2015 and now 2016/2017 seasons.

With this win, Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte joins the list of managers to win the premier league in their first season.
