Parents whose daughters were Kidnaped by daredevil Boko Haram terrorists last Monday in Government Girls Science Technical Secondary School Dapchi in Yobe State has accused the state and Federal governments of deep insincerity with the handling of the missing school girls.
The parents lambasted the governments for lying to them over the recovery of their missing daughters wondering why the governments are yet to intercept the Boko Haram terrorists and rescue their children.
On Wednesday, spokesman of the Yobe State governor, Abdullahi Bego had issued a statement claiming that some of the missing were rescued by the Nigeria Army but in less than 24 hours, the spokesman issued another statement on Thursday apologize to Nigerians Stressing that his initial statement was not credible.
“We issued the statement on the basis of information provided by one of the security agencies that is involved in the fight against Boko Haram and which we had no reason to doubt.
“We have now established that the information we relied on to make the statement was not credible,” Bego said a statement on Thursday night.
Speaking on Thursday in Dapchi town, one of the parent whose daughter is still missing, Aminami Maigoro urged the government to quickly go after the Boko Haram terrorists and rescue all kidnapped girls for Dapchi school.
” We are very sad about this development, many of our daughters were kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists. But the government is further compounding the situation by lying to us that our daughters have been rescued.
“We are yet to see any of our missing daughters, rather than lying to us, the government should ensure that the military goes after the Boko Haram terrorist and rescue our daughters, ” Maigoro said.
Maigoro who spoke on behalf of other parents whose daughters are missing recalled how Boko Haram terrorist terrorists invaded Dapchi town and started shooting sporadically leaving residents scampering to safety.
“Many of us couldn’t sleep in our houses on Monday night. We have never witnessed this kind of incident since the Boko Haram insurgency started ” Maigoro said
Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who was also in Dapchi as leader of the Federal Government delegation alongside the Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Hon. Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, could not give the parents and cheering the news.
“We cannot give them the exact number of missing girls, for now, please give us some time. But Information available to us indicate that some of the missing girls who ran Into the bush are now back to their houses”.
Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam appealed to the parents to be calm stating that security forces and the state government are on top of the situation.
“Please be calm for now, the state government and security agencies at all levels will continue the work to address the unfortunate incident, ” Governor Gaidam said.
