A visible body has been bound in the wreckage of the Piper Malibu Airplane carrying Pilot, David Ibbotson and footballer, Emiliano Sala.
A Piper Malibu N264DB plane had been carried Sala, 28, and pilot David Ibbotson, 59 on the 21st of January before it went missing over the English Channel.
New reports said a body can be seen inside the wreckage, the AAIB said after its investigation with Blue Water Recoveries Ltd using specialist vessel Geo Ocean III and FPV Morven. The investigation began on Sunday morning.
”Early in the search, the Morven identified an object of interest on the seabed using its side-scan sonar equipment,’’ the investigators said.
‘’It cleared the immediate area for the Geo Ocean III to use its underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to survey the area of the seabed in which the object was located.’’
”Tragically, in video footage from the ROV, one occupant is visible amidst the wreckage,” the AAIB confirmed.
Families of Ibbotson and Sala have been reached by AAIB to give then the latest developments.
Emiliano’s father, Horacio Sala expressed his disbelief with the wreckage found, saying he is now more desperate to see where it will end.
Investigators have promised to submit an interim report after one month from the date of the accident.
