Nigeria Records 481 New Cases Of COVID-19 As Infections Toll 42,689, Deaths Now 878

Nigeria has recorded 481 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made the disclosure late Thursday night.

The centre also announced the recovery of 266 patients and the death of another 5.

14 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded new cases on Thursday.


FCT recorded the day’s highest toll with 96 while Lagos recorded 89 new cases.

Plateau also recorded 68 new cases with Ogun recording 49 new cases.

Others are Edo (44), Rivers (43), Oyo (25), Osun (23), Delta (15), Enugu (11), Kano (7), Kaduna (7), Bauchi (2), Bayelsa (1), and Yobe (1).

Since the index case was confirmed on February 27, 2020, Nigeria has recorded 42,689 cases of the disease.

While 19,270 cases have been discharged after their recovery, a total of 878 fatalities have been recorded.
