#OsunWestDecides: Fani-Kayode “Shames” Aregbesola, APC…Says PDP Not Dead

Former Minister of Aviation, and Spokesperson for the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation during the 2015 general election, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has thrown a shade at the All Progressives Congress (APC) for failing to win the Osun West by-election.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared the results of the Osun West senatorial by-election earlier today, Sunday, July 9.

According to the results declared by INEC Returning Officer, Professor Olaide Lawal, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won  nine (9) of the ten (10) local government areas where the election took place.

PDP candidate, Otunba Ademola Adeleke scored a total of 97, 280 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mudashiru Hussein who polled 66, 115 votes.

The final result of the Osun West by-election showed that Ademola Adeleke of the PDP had 31, 165 votes more than his closest rival and APC candidate, Mudashiru Hussein.

While Ademola Adeleke won nine (9) of the ten (10) local government areas, Mudashiru Hussein who was governor Raul Aregbesola’s preferred candidate, could only deliver his Ejigbo local government for the APC where he scored 12, 229 votes while the PDP polled 9, 723 votes.

Reacting to the results, Fani-Kayode took to micro-blogging site, Twitter to slam Osun state governor, Rauf Aregbesola who had personally led the campaign for Hussain, touring all the local government areas with him.

The former Aviation Minister while congratulating Adeleke, added that the result of the Osun West by-election shows that the opposition party is not dead as touted in some quarters.
