Lyon was in rehearsals for the ceremony slated for the 14th of February before news filtered in that he his mandate has been reviewed and given to the candidate of the PDP, Senator Douye Diri.
A 5-man panel at the Supreme Court led by Justice Mary Peter-Odili ordered INEC to withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to the All Progressives Congress’ candidates as the winners of the November 16, 2019 governorship election in the state.
Justice Ejembi Ekwo, the lead judgment of the apex, read the orders out after disqualifying the APC’s deputy governorship candidate, Degi-Eremienyo, as a candidate in the election.
The court in its ruling upheld the November 12, 2019 judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja which disqualified Degi-Eremienyo in the election for submission of forged certificates to INEC.
