Police Submit Report On DSS’ NASS Invasion, Indict Daura

The Nigerian Police Force has submitted a report of its probe or investigation into the invasion of the National Assembly by members of the Department of State Security, DSS.

In the report signed by the Police IG, Ibrahim Idris, it was stated that sacked DSS DG, Lawal Daura was acting unilaterally, based on his intuition as it was discovered that nobody instructed him to make such move.

As reported by the Police, Daura organised men who put on hoods and masks to cover their faces, invaded the National Assembly and prevented entry of staff and lawmakers into the complex across all entries.

The Police accused Daura  of not informing other security agencies in the country before going on the mission; and recommended that the officers who were involved in the invasion should be released to the Police for interrogation.

They(Police) also made a mincemeat of the purported intelligence report supposedly obtained by the DSS as they claim it s not substantiated.

iThe report advised Ag. President Yemi Osinbajo to give the Police the permission to arrest and detain the former DSS DG for his role in an incident that brought Nigeria to an international disrepute.

Daura has since been replaced by Matthew Seiyefa, who is currently the most Senior Director the agency has.

Meanwhile, former DSS DG and Daura’s predecessor, Ita Ekpeyong has been accused of looting N17bn by the EFCC. The EFCC searched his home earlier on Thursday, arrested him and released him later while he will be invited for further questioning.

Recall that Daura was also arrested by the Police before being released while his passport was seized.
