#politicalstewng: Robert Clarke Calls Nigerian Parliamentarians “Greedy And Very Selfish” (Video)

A former attorney to several Heads of State in Nigeria, Robert Clarke, SAN, says Nigerian parliamentarians are “very greedy and very selfish”.

The octogenarian who made this comment on Tuesday, June 12 on “Political Stew“, a live political talk show on Television Continental anchored by Sulaiman Aledeh, also stressed that the ministers have played more politics with the health of the President rather than doing what is required of them by the law.

Referencing President Muhammadu Buhari’s last medical trip to the United Kingdom where he spent over hundred days in a London hospital, the legal luminary revealed that under the 1999 constitution, the person or organization who can determine whether the president fit and unfit is the cabinet who are required by the provisions of the law to set up a medical panel to determine the state of his health.

He, however, noted that the ministers are politicians and that if they want to determine that aspect, politics will come into play.

Clarke furthered that the people who are in the kitchen cabinet, who are making a lot of money ruling Nigeria when President Buhari was “virtually dead” will not allow a situation where the ministers will take a decision according to the constitution.

His words: “Our parliamentarians were very greedy, were very selfish, because under the 1999 constitution, the person or organization who can determine whether the president fit and unfit is the cabinet who are required by the provisions of the law to set up a medical panel to determine the state of his health”, octogenarian said.

“But you know ministers are politicians, if they want to determine that aspect, politics comes into play.

“The people who are in the kitchen cabinet, who are making a lot of money ruling Nigeria when Mr President was virtually dead will not allow a situation where the ministers will do such a thing, so the politics of the day did not permit the politicians of that date to take a decision according to the constitution”, the legal luminary said.
