Rivers State Police Criminal Investigative and Intelligence Department , SCIID , has arrested one Eedee Tombari for allegedly raping a pastor’s nine year old daughter to death in Rivers state.
Information gathered indicate that the suspect committed the crime on Monday, in a new generation church along Lepne Street, in Bori, the headquarters of Khana Local Government Area of the State.
Sources in the community disclosed that prior to the act, the mother of the victim, Eedeebari Littia Gonis-Kogbara, had taken the little girl to a church vigil programme.
Another source revealed that while the vigil was ongoing, Eedeebari took the little girl to one of the rooms in the church.
The 23 year old Tombari allegedly raped the girl to death in the room and dumped her remains at the back of the church fence.
The suspect was eventually arrested by detectives attached to the Bori Area Command and was later transferred to SCIID, where he is currently undergoing further investigation.
The father of the deceased, Pastor Peter Gonis-Kogbara, a General Overseer of a Church in Bori said the traces of blood revealed the spot the suspect had dumped his dead daughter.
Thereafter, he called on Nigerians to come to his aid and ensure that justice prevails in the matter.
Meanwhile, the State chairperson of Federation of International Women Lawyers, Anthonia Osademe, has commended the security operatives for their quick intervention in arresting the suspect.
She vowed that FIDA would take up the matter and in turn ensure that the family of the deceased gets justice.
