Just a day after his goals helped Poland to qualification for the Russia 2018 World Cup, Bayern Munich striker, Robert Lewandowski got his Bachelors of Science, B.Sc degree in Physical Education; Coaching and Management from a Polish university.
Lewandowski, who has not had an impressive start to the Bundesliga this season, like his team, Bayern Munich was all smiles after being presented with the award of the degree. The 29-year old former Borussia Dortmund striker just on Saturday helped his Polish national team to their first World Cup appearance since 2002.
The Ballon D’Or nominee who was the Bundesliga’s top scorer two seasons ago had recently voiced out his displeasure with the way Bayern is playing claiming they are not being feared anymore and are not playing to the best of their abilities.
Lewandowski will be meeting a new manager when hostilities resume in the German Bundesliga after former manager and one of the most successful managers in Bundesliga history, Jupp Heynckes was reappointed after the dismissal of Italian, Carlo Ancelotti.
Lewandowski has joined a list of footballers who have proceeded with their study to the university after most recently, Juventus defender, Giorgio Chiellini picked up his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Turin. Other footballers who have picked up University degrees are; former Super Eagles midfielder, Seyi Olofinjana who has an M.Sc in Marine Engineering from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, Socrates who was a medical doctor and led Brazil to their forgettable Spain 82 World Cup performance.
Modern day footballers have now sought for university degrees to improve their management experience and capacity, as most of them end up being in football management as Sporting Directors of teams or coaches.
The former Legia Warsaw striker has been dubbed as arguably the best striker in the world as a result of his excellent performances and goal scoring prowess.
