Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, has applauded Nigerian journalists for their roles in the development of society.
Sanwo-Olu gave this applaud on his Twitter handle in commemoration of today’s World Press Freedom Day.
The governor said, “Around the world, the press mirrors the society, exposes ills, and bridges the gap between the government and the people to create mutual understanding and cooperation.
He added that the theme of this year’s celebration – “Information as a Public Good” is very apt.
According to him, “with the right information, the government & the governed will understand issues and act for the good of the public.”
