Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has donated 50 KIA Automobiles to magistrates in the State.
Sanwo-Olu, speaking at the presentation ceremony on Thursday, said that his decision to make life moderately comfortable for officials of the State Judiciary was in recognition of their critical roles in the interpretation and application of laws for the maintenance of peaceful co-existence among all residents in the State.
Accompanied by his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, Exco Members and top government officials to the event, Sanwo-Olu also reiterated his commitment to partner the judiciary towards achieving efficient and effective service delivery in the State.
In his remarks at the presentation, the State Chief Judge, Justice Kazeem Alogba thanked the Governor for making his promise a reality with the first phase of the presentation of 50 vehicles, describing it as a promise kept.
He maintained that the vehicles were long overdue to the Magistrates who had waited since 2011 for their official vehicles and had continued to discharge their duties despite the various challenges associated with the delivery of their official assignments.
Justice Alogba, however, called on the Governor to extend the gesture to other serving Magistrates in the State.
In her welcome address, the Chief Registrar, Taiwo Olatokun expressed appreciation to the Governor for his kindness, pledging that the Magistrates would do their best to ensure all Lagosians have unhindered access to free and fair justice delivery.
