The Senate has approved the appointment of Omolola Abiola-Edewor, the first daughter of the late business mogul, Bashorun MKO Abiola, as Executive Director (Corporate Services) of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
This is coming after President Muhammadu Buhari had written to the Senate seeking approval and renewal of her appointment, on the 3rd of April.
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki had ruled that the request be sent to the Banking Committee for an appropriate screening of the nominee.
Presenting the report, the chairman of the committee, Rafiu Ibrahim, said the nominee possesses character, competence, and the knowledge to do the job.
The Senate, thereafter, confirmed Abiola-Edewor’s reappointment for a second and final term of five years.
Lola Abiola-Edewor, is former member House of Reps, a one-time senatorial aspirant and currently ED NDIC.
