Tony Momoh Bids Brother L. F Momoh Farewell

Yerimah of Auchi Sacred Kingdom, Prince Tony Momoh, has paid tribute to Madaiki of Auchi Sacred Kingdom, Alhaji Liasu F. Momoh, who died on Tuesday at the age of 78.

In a tribute he personally signed, Prince Tony noted that Alhaji Liasu is the third member of the Ikelebe family to die in the last three months. He named Daudu 1 of Auchi Sacred Kingdom, Engr Abdulazeez Momoh and a former Director General of NYSC, Maj-Gen Hafiz Momoh rtd, as those who previously died.

He described Alhaji Liasu as his family’s foremost businessman based in Benin City. He stated he had been bedridden for a long time before his death.

Prince Tony disclosed his remains would be buried at Auchi, Edo State, on Wednesday.

“I just received news of the departure of Brother L.F. Momoh. He is the third key member of our Ikelebe Family in three months to be called away,” he wrote.

“In the first week of March, Engr Abdulazeez Momoh left. He was the Daudu 1 of Auchi Sacred Kingdom. He was 68.

“On April 25, Maj-Gen Hafiz Momoh rtd left. He was D.G. of NYSC and retired as Head of Army Education. He was the Takobi of Auchi Sacred Kingdom. He was passionate playing golf. He was 76. His body was taken to Auchi where it was buried with military honours on April 26.

“And today Alhaji Liasu Momoh left. He has been bedridden for a long time. He worked in the medical departments of the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and the University of Benin. He was the right-hand man of Mid-West Governor Prof Ambrose Alli. He was our family’s foremost business man based in Benin City. He was the Madaiki of Auchi Sacred Kingdom.

“He was 78 and the body will be buried Insha Allah at Auchi tomorrow May 6.”

The Yerimah of Auchi Sacred Kingdom prayed that the journey of the deceased to the great beyond be “smoothened” while bidding him farewell.

“Many people who seem to forget that our departure from here is guaranteed at birth because this earth is not our home, have wondered why ‘this type of thing should happen’! I hope no one is questioning God who gives and takes!

“When the death of anyone is announced a picture appears before me. It is vivid. ‘Remember you are in this world, not of this world… To them over there you shall return and account for all you did during your sojourn here on earth…’

“For those who leave, the journey upwards to Paradise should begin. That should be our prayer. But where we all must end at, the final destination will be determined by what we did here.

“May the journey of those who are called homewards be smooth.

“Farewell Brother LF. You did well here, in our assessment, and may your journey home be smoothened,” he added.
