In yet another case of suicide, a young man has jumped into the Lagos lagoon.
The man, identified as Daibo Toju Davies of 17, Sosanya street, Soluyi, Gbagada, Lagos, was said to have ordered an Uber and told the driver of the car he took from a hospital in Gbagada to stop, after which he jumped into the water.
Nosa Okunbor, public affairs officer of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), revealed that officials of the agency are currently making efforts to rescue the victim.
“He should be in his mid-twenties. He ordered a car-hailing service from Gbagada to the Island. He deceived the UBER driver that he had a running stomach after which he jumped into the lagoon,” Okunbor said.
“As I speak with you, the marine unit of the Lagos central zone has been searching for the victim since 11:30am, but we have not found the body,” he said.
Several individuals on suicide missions have been rescued and stopped from jumping into the lagoon with agencies and groups, regularly speaking and preaching the importance of mental health.
