UI Undergraduate Crushed To Death In Soap Factory

Richard Gbadebo, an undergraduate of the University of Ibadan was crushed to death on Monday after falling into a soap-making machine in Oluyole, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The 300 level student was said to be on a holiday job at the factory due to the closure of schools.

The factory is owned by Henkel Nigeria Limited, makers of WAW detergent and bar soap.

The organisation confirmed the incident after being called out by tweeter users.

Henkel, via its verified Twitter, apologised for reacting late adding that it is already in contact with the deceased’s family.

“The tragic accident shakes us & we assure you we do everything we can to clarify its cause. Our deepest sympathy goes to Richard’s family. We are in contact with them & provide the necessary support in this difficult time.

“Out of respect, we do not make any further statement. We apologize for the late reaction. It was important for us to personally console his family before we comment on the incident on public channels,” it tweeted.
