UPDATE: TVC Sack: For Each Year, It’s A Month Salary As Severance….Nigerians React

Television Continental Broadcasting Service owners of TVC News, TVC Nigeria, TVC Entertainment and Adaba FM in Ondo State, have agreed to pay a ‘month salary as severance for each year spent’ by the over 145 staff that were sacked on Friday.

ALEDEH had reported earlier that over one hundred and forty five (145) staff of the broadcast outfit were sacked on Friday morning under heavy security presence.

Recall that we had also reported on Thursday, June 1, that the new board of the broadcast outfit had penciled down two hundred (200) staff for sack.

In our Thursday report, we stated that the board headed by a white man, Andre Hanlon took the decision in order to reduce overhead costs, most especially workers’ salaries running into millions of naira.

The sack which was done under heavy security presence on Friday morning, affected some pioneer staff of the broadcast outfit.

One of the affected staff who spoke with ALEDEH, said “They did it as if we were criminals”.

Another said: “After all we laboured for right from Link65, to G65 and now TVC this is all we get as thank you”, the furious staff lamented.

Displeased with the development, Nigerians took to social media to express their opinions on the matter with some comparing the present government to that of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

wrote on Facebook: “So father of can sack people?!”. wrote: “This is a bad report on new TV Station”.

wrote: “Media House is this one anoda I yam ? At this critical tym”. wrote: “I have been enjoying most of their shows like your view, journalist hangout and one other programme since some of you left Channels TV. Something have to be done. Nigeria is no longer working”.
