Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has spoken about Hadiza’s suspension as NPA MD
ALEDEH News had reported that President Muhammadu Buhari approved Hadiza Bala Usman’s suspension as the Managing Director/CEO of Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) and appointed Mohammed Koko, the Executive Director (finance and admin), as acting MD.
This follows the accusation levelled against her by the Ministry of Transportation under Rotimi Amaechi that she did not remit the operating surplus of NPA to the consolidated revenue fund (CFR).
An 11-member investigative panel has since been set up to probe NPA over all contracts awarded since 2016 when Hadiza became MD.
In her reaction to the development, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who is a former Liberian President, said she is disheartened by Hadiza’s suspension, adding that the rule of law, fair and equal treatment should be observed during the investigations.
“I am disheartened to hear about the suspension of Nigerian Ports Authority MD @hadizabalausman, who I have known to be an accomplished leader and dedicated public servant. I urge adherence to the rule of law and fair and equal treatment as the situation evolves,” she tweeted on Saturday.
