Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District at the upper legislative chamber in the National Assembly, Mrs. Stella Oduah, has preached love and giving as Christians across the country celebrate the Christmas day.
She said Christmas is an opportunity to give and share love among one’s family, and also the less-privileged in the society.
In a Christmas video message by the federal lawmaker, she she urged Christians to sacrifice for their neighbours and be their brother’s keeper in spirit of Christmas celebration.
“Christmas for me signifies a very special time, a time to be with one’s family, the loved ones and to share love among the less-privileged because God has given us so much in different ways.
“Some, skills of different types or most importantly, God has given us life and so we owe it to mankind to share.
“The bible says, ‘God rejoices when we give and that when we give, we lend to the Lord’. Therefore, giving should be a duty and Christmas in particular is when we need to optimize that.
“If you have skill, give your skill. If you have talent of any sort, you share it. If you are alive, you give yourself, a bit of yourself to your neighbours because God says we should be our brother’s keeper.
“And so in my thought, that is what Christmas is all about, that we should give a little of ourselves and God would be very happy with that,” Oduah preached.
She said she’s aware of the hard economic reality in the country and how unpalatable it has been for Nigerians, while promising bills and motions are being in place in the National Assembly to ease the lives of youths and women.
“I want you to know that I do know that the economy has not been healthy and so things have been very difficult. Unemployment has been on the increase; joblessness among the youths.
“In that view, we have prioritized bills and motions on these things thay will enhance the lives of our youths and women,” the senator stressed.
