Zinedine Zidane Makes History As Real Madrid Trash Juventus 4-1 To Defend Champions League Title

Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane has made history by becoming the first manager to win the UEFA champions league back to back after guiding the Los Blancos to the 2016/2017 title.

The Spanish giants became the first team to successfully defend the Champions League in the modern era, after defeating Juventus 4-1 in Cardiff on Saturday night, June 3.

Playmaker, Cristiano Ronaldo opened the score for Real Madrid on the 20th minute tucking away a cutback from Dani Carvajal before Mario Mandzukic equalized for Juventus seven minutes later with a stunning lob over Keylor Navas to end the first half 1-1.

The La Liga champions however went on rampage in the second half through Casemiro’s thunder strike from distance on the 61th minute to restore Real Madrid’s lead, before Ronaldo grabbed his brace three minutes later.

Marco Asensio completed Madrid’s triumph on the 90th minute to end the game 4-1, earning Zinedine Zidane’s men their second trophy of the season after lifting the La Liga title a few weeks ago.

The win means Madrid have won the Champions league for a record 12 times having won the trophy in 1956 ,1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1966, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2014, 2016 and  2017 .

Meanwhile Zinedine Zidane  has won the Champions League  twice, Club World Cup,  UEFA Super Cup  and LaLiga in his 18months as Real Madrid manager.
